Broadbill Forest Camp

The park is accessible within 41 minutes’ drive from the resort. There are 4 main sectors in Bwindi Forest, namely, Ruhija, Nkuringo, Rushaga and Buhoma.
The park’s diverse species include 120 mammal species, 310 butterfly species, 350 bird species, 27 frog species, geckos, chameleons and more than 1000 flowering plant species which include 104 fern species and 200 tree species.
The different species inhabited within Bwindi Impenetrable Forest include mountain gorillas, African elephants, chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, vervet monkeys, giant forest hogs, red-tailed monkeys, and varied bird species.

Cuckooland Tented Lodge
Cuckooland Tented Lodge sits on the border of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park about 20 to 30 minutes west of the Ruhija ranger station where gorilla trekking begins and ends. Cuckooland is a haven for birdwatchers, insect collectors, botanists and other naturalists and for those who want to immerse themselves in nature in total peace and quiet.
The lodge is built on one side of a valley the other side being Bwindi Forest looking across at the deep Bwindi forest directly below where the sun sets. They are over 300 species on our bird list, more than 70 labeled species of indigenous trees, and more than 40 species of moths new to science have been found here.
Accommodation at Cuckooland Tented Lodge is in secluded, self-contained tent houses made mainly from local materials with lavish botanical gardens for relaxation, situated close to the edge of the national park.

Ihamba Residence
Ihamba Residence is a mid-range facility in Northern of Bwindi Forest. Ihamba Residence is a preferred homestay for tourists intending to explore gorilla families in Ruhija sector, the north Eastern gorilla trekking region of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
The Residence is a Guest House in Bwindi, western Uganda on top of a hill with a stunning view over the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, home of some of the last remaining mountain Gorillas.
The residence is run by Change a Life Bwindi, a community-based organization that links the importance of preserving Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park to the communities through creating enterprises, and employment opportunities as well as engaging direct conservation projects. The residence runs on solar power and harvested rainwater.

Hiking in Bwindi forest
In collaboration with the Uganda Wildlife Authority, Ihamba residence offers guests a 6-hour hiking experience through the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest at an extra cost of Ushs 30,000 for East African citizens and $70 for foreign nationals. The nature walk takes you through the marvel that is Bwindi from maneuvering thickets and dense undergrowth to scaling forested hills over and over again.
Gorilla trekking
In partnership with different Tour operators, the residence can secure you gorilla permits at your expense that will enable you to go trek the mighty beasts which only live in Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Visit the Batwa Heritage Center
The Batwa were for thousands of years hunter-gatherers living inside the forest. They were displaced when the forest was gazetted as a national park they now live on the fringes of the Forest. Change a life launched a heritage center to showcase the history of the Batwa.

Ruhija Community Rest Camp is one of the budget lodges in Bwindi Forest. This camp is situated in the dense forest of Bwindi. Being located deep in the forest, the camp has good accommodation in wooden cabins with private balconies overlooking the forest. The camp is just at the edge of the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park boundary on the left as you enter Ruhija trading center. It is 10 to 15 minutes’ walk to the point where gorilla trekking briefing is (UWA offices).
